Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards – August reading challenge!

The arrival of August also means the arrival of a very important bookish event that’s marked on my calendar – the Children’s Book Council of Australia awards. It’s been a bit of a tradition of mine for the last few years to attempt to read every book that is listed on the ‘Notables’ list, and this year is no exception. A lot of my favourite books have come from reading this list, and it’s always really interesting to see the particular trends that arise in a given year.

The CBCA Awards aim to support and encourage a wide range of Australian writers, so there are six categories to the Book of the Year Award. The category I will be focusing on reading is the section for older readers, as it features a wide and wonderful selection of #LoveOzYa books. All going according to plan, I will be posting a review of one of the books from the Older Readers Notables list once a fortnight, and I hope I can inspire you to pick up one of these fantastic books and see how varied and wonderful the world of Australian YA is.

You can find a list of the 2018 Notable books for Older Readers at this link.

Happy Reading!
