When I started this blog, I had read a little bit on book blogging slumps. Ha, I thought smugly. As if that will ever happen to me! I read widely and often. Perhaps some would say I read a little excessively, but I don’t believe there is such a thing.
And then it happened.
I think I managed to read one book for the whole month of July, and the thought of putting fingers to keyboard and type out a review or any thoughts I had on a book made me feel exhausted and anxious. Even my fiction writing took a rather sharp detour to the proverbial bottom drawer and hadn’t been touched for a while.
I could say it was for a number of factors that my book blogging got put firmly on the backburner, but really, I think it was because I was trying to make everything perfect. Whether this was my personal life, my writing or my blogging, I wanted everything to be perfectly polished, and, lets be honest, in life, this very rarely happens.
Here’s to getting back to the desk and acknowledging that our work doesn’t always have to be perfect. It just has to be the best it can be.
